STEPS TAKEN TO IMPROVE CLEANLINESS OF STEEL

  • Controls Tapping oxygen from EAF & measured soluble oxygen with the help of celox instrument.
  • Sulphur content after desulphurization is < 0.010%
  • We keep VD lifting Aluminum content < 0.030%
  • Mild Purging after each wire addition ‘CaSi’ and ‘S’ is minimum 5 minutes, so that proper flotation of inclusions up into the slag.
  • For sequence heats, Tundish level is being maintaining approx. 3 MT minimum.
  • Vesuvius Turbo Stop used in the Tundish during casting.
  • EMS (Electro magnetic Stirrer) is being used in CCM.
  • Hydraulic mold oscillator installation which help us to improve cleanliness of steel.
  • Higher reduction ratio, Rolling of 50 mm diameter from 320 X 250 mm billet size.
  • First and last billets/ tundish material is not being rolled for critical grades/applications.
